DESCRIPTION:Asa Candler Jr. Challenger Trophy Re-Dedication\nPanama City, FL -- The St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club is honored to announce that they\nwill be conducting a dedication ceremony on October 26th at 4:30 pm in conjunction\nwith Coca-Cola for their new Asa Candler Jr. Challenger Trophy. The ceremony will be\ndedicating a new Tiffany trophy, generously donated by Coca-Cola. A short\ndocumentary, presented by Wewa Films, will be available on the Yacht Club’s website,\nproviding more information about the trophy.\nIn November of 2023, the St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club experienced a fire that completely\ndevastated the membership. Along with the loss of the main clubhouse, the membership lost\nthe nearly 90-year-old Asa Candler Jr. Challenger Trophy. The trophy was originally donated to\nSt. Andrews Bay Yacht Club in 1936 as part of an agreement that they would run a regatta\nevery first weekend in June in front of Asa Candler Jr.’s home.\n“Losing the Candler Trophy was a major loss not only for the St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club, but\nalso for Panama City,” says Gabriela Cumbie, events committee chair. Cumbie states,\n“Families from across the Gulf Coast have been coming to Panama City for almost 90 years to\nsail our waters and compete for the trophy.
